Dr Chris Robinson Attends Panel for Gold Coast Screening of 'Conquering Skin Cancer'

We are proud to share that Dr Chris Robinson, a passionate advocate for skin cancer awareness, was invited and attended as a guest panellist at the Gold Coast screening of the national film Conquering Skin Cancer. This inspiring event took place on Sunday, 8 December, at 2:30 PM, at Event Cinemas Pacific Fair in Broadbeach, QLD.

About the Event

The screening of Conquering Skin Cancer was more than just a film viewing; it served as an opportunity to spark meaningful conversations about a disease that affects two out of every three Australians. Following the film, a Q&A panel featuring Dr Chris Robinson and other notable experts and advocates provided insights, shared experiences, and discussed strategies to combat skin cancer.

About the Film

Conquering Skin Cancer delves into Australia’s unique and complex relationship with the sun. It explores the good, the bad, and the ugly—from our outdoor lifestyles and sun-kissed culture to the devastating effects of skin cancer.

The film follows the remarkable journeys of high-profile Australians and change makers, including:

  • Hugh Jackman
  • Cate Campbell (Olympic swimmer)
  • Deborah Hutton
  • Costa Giorgiadis
  • Wayne ‘Rabbit’ Bartholomew (surfing champion)
  • Australians of the Year Georgina Long and Richard Scolyer

Together, they highlight the preventable nature of this disease and the urgent need for awareness and action.

This powerful documentary was screened in 30 locations across the country, including Brisbane, Gold Coast, Noosa, Sydney, and Newcastle, from December 2024.

A Successful Conversation

The event offered attendees the chance to engage with experts and advocates, ask questions, and deepen their understanding of how we can all play a part in conquering skin cancer. Dr Chris Robinson’s contributions to the panel highlighted the importance of prevention, early detection, and collective action.

At Melanoma Scan, we are proud to support initiatives like Conquering Skin Cancer that align with our mission to promote awareness, prevention, and early detection. We thank everyone who attended and contributed to this vital conversation.
