At Melanoma Scan, we understand the power of community support and the importance of early detection for serious health conditions. This October, we proudly joined hands with other local businesses and community members to support a vital cause – a Pink Ribbon Breakfast organised by Tess Jeffs in honour of her mother, Andrea Dyson, a courageous nine-year breast cancer survivor.
About the Pink Ribbon Breakfast
Each year, the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) encourages individuals and communities across Australia to host Pink Ribbon Breakfasts during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. These events raise essential funds to advance breast cancer research and bring NBCF closer to its vision of zero deaths from breast cancer. Tess’s event was a resounding success, exceeding expectations and raising $3,362—well above the initial goal of $1,000. The funds raised will directly support NBCF’s efforts to improve early diagnosis, treatment options, and survival rates for those affected by breast cancer.
Community Partnerships in Action
Our participation in Tess's Pink Ribbon Breakfast highlights our commitment to supporting local health initiatives that matter. Alongside us, brands like Ego, La Roche, and Avene generously donated products that became sought-after raffle prizes for event attendees. These contributions helped drive excitement and additional donations, which played a pivotal role in reaching the event’s ambitious fundraising total.
The Role of Local Businesses in Health Awareness
Local businesses have a unique role to play in promoting health awareness in their communities. By supporting events like the Pink Ribbon Breakfast, Melanoma Scan not only advocates for breast cancer awareness but also emphasises the importance of regular screenings and early detection for conditions such as melanoma. Together, through community-focused events, we can support each other in building a healthier, more informed future.
Why Breast Cancer Awareness Matters
Breast cancer remains one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers among Australians. Events like Tess’s breakfast and other community-led initiatives make a real difference, providing critical funding to NBCF and raising awareness that could save lives. Every dollar raised brings us one step closer to NBCF’s goal of zero breast cancer deaths, thanks to research that improves early detection and treatment.
Thank You to Our Community
We’re honoured to be part of such an impactful event and are deeply grateful to Tess, Andrea, and everyone who came together to make a difference. At Melanoma Scan, we’re inspired by these strong community partnerships and remain dedicated to raising awareness for both melanoma and breast cancer.
Thank you for your support, and let’s keep working towards a future where awareness, research, and prevention keep our loved ones safe.
